Travel Itinerary

All students must arrive between 1200 and 1500 on December 26.

The uniform of the day on check-in day is Navy Working Uniform (NWU)

All students must depart no later than 1230 on January 1.

For Cadets arriving by personal vehicle: If your driver does not have military installation access, then driving on base will be impossible without prior authorization and federal background check. Requests for base access forms will be sent to all cadets Approved for training via email.  

Command Shuttle from TF Green airport,: We expect to have shuttles from the airport to Naval Station Newport.  Pick up times 11am and 2pm.  Please complete the online form at the bottom to get on the shuttle list.

Taxi/shuttle information: If you arrange your own transporation to the base instruct the driver to drop you off at the NAVSTA Newport Pass & ID office outside Gate 1. The address is 299 Cloyne Court, Newport, Rhode Island. When you arrive, please call the ATC New England duty officer-of-the-day at 617.240.6361 and request a pickup at gate 1.

Orange Cab operates a shuttle from T. F. Green Airport in Providence, Rhode Island (Code "PVD") to Newport. Departures from the airport vary with the season and the day of the week; to obtain current schedule information and make reservations, call 401-841-0020, or visit http://newportcabs.com. The shuttle service is about approximately $30.00 each way, gratuity not included. An additional taxi ride from Newport to the base will be necessary, at an additional cost. Travel from the airport to Gate 1 will be at least 60 minutes depending on traffic and weather conditions.

For Cadets traveling by commercial air, bus, or train:

Do not make any reservations until your billet is APPROVED in Magellan.

Please make all commercial air reservations into and from T.F. Green Providence Airport (code "PVD").

You are hereby advised that you should purchase REFUNDABLE airline tickets. There is always a possibility that between now and December 26 this training will be cancelled or the dates changed.

You should arrange to have your transportation leave sufficiently late on 01 January 2019 to allow you to attend graduation (which will end at approximately 12:00pm), get a taxi at the front gate, and travel from the base to the embarking point.

Please make sure that you have enough money for shuttle/taxi to and from your destination, as well as some spare emergency cash.

Please make sure that you have a cell phone with you while you travel. You should call or text home at the beginning and end of each leg of your journey. If there are any itinerary changes, delays, or cancellations, you should call home first and then call the COTC at 617.240.6361.

You will be required to call home as soon as you arrive in the barracks. Your parents should expect a phone call at that time.

DO NOT travel in uniform on airplanes, trains, or buses. This is a USNSCC rule.
